Oilers early season struggle not a surprise, players say good things are happening

You can’t turn a ship around on a dime.

Especially when it’s been sitting at the bottom of the ocean for nine years.

So it should come as no surprise that the massive reclamation project assigned to Peter Chiarelli, Todd McLellan and Connor McDavid is going slower than most fans hoped.

Despite all of the off-season excitement and pre-season hype, the Oilers are actually off to a worse start than last year. They are 0-4 and still losing games because of their trademark weaknesses and bad habits.

In other words, they’re pretty much right on schedule for what the new regime promised when it inherited this bloody mess: No Quick Fix.
