OHL players revolt after Flint Firebirds' coach fired

The Flint Firebirds are certainly making a name for themselves early into their Ontario Hockey League existence - even if it is for a few curious reasons.

According to reports circulating late Sunday night, Firebirds head coach John Gruden was fired immediately following the team's come-from-behind overtime win at home over the Oshawa Generals on Sunday.

That's not even close to the whole story, however, as the firing apparently stemmed from team owner Rolf Nilsen's displeasure regarding the amount of ice time his son, a 17-year-old rookie defenceman on the team, had been receiving.

But here's the something-you-don't-see-every day scenario that has the junior hockey world buzzing: Upon learning of the coaching shakeup, the Michigan-based players quit the team.
