They are leaving a building that’s seen more sweaters thrown on the ice than playoff games in the last 10 years, and moving into one that might be the envy of the league, but that doesn’t mean the Edmonton Oilers are glad to get out of Rexall Place.
Despite too many years of struggling and misfortune there, Rexall Place still holds a special place in their hearts, too.
So they wanted to do their part to make Wednesday’s going away party complete.
“There’s a certain mandate in this organization, a winning attitude,” said Jordan Eberle, who’s glad they were able to honour the Oilers history with a convincing home-ice victory.
