NHL History: Today in 1983, Eddy Beers sends Calgary Flames to victory in game one of Stanley Cup playoffs

Eddy Beers ripped up the league for the 1983-84 Calgary Flames. He finished second in team scoring potting 36 goals and 75 points in 73 games.

He put up three hattricks that year two as the Flames marched into a first-round playoff matchup with the Vancouver Canucks. There, in game one, Eddy Beers was the hero scoring at the 12:27 mark of overtime to lead the Flames to a 4-3 victory in game one.

It truly set the tone for the club, as they were able to topple the Canucks in four games.

Calgary fell, however, in the second round to the Edmonton Oilers going all the way to seven games.
