It will begin on Oct. 12, 2016 by ushering in Edmonton’s new hockey jewel, a state-of-the-art arena unofficially known as The House That Connor Built.
It will end on April 9, 2017 with a fond farewell in the Motor City to the longtime Red Wings home on the shores of the Detroit River that for decades has simply been referred to as The Joe.
All in all, there is no shortage of intrigue woven into the 1,230-game 2016-17 NHL regular season schedule, which was released on Tuesday.
It will be a historic campaign, to be sure, given that the league is celebrating 100 years of NHL hockey while the Toronto Maple Leafs embark on a number of festivities revolving around their own centennial season.
