TAMPA — Sean Monahan claimed a piece of franchise history.
The Calgary Flames claimed a couple of important points.
Monahan buried the 100th goal of his big-league career in the second period of Thursday’s 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena, making history as the youngest marksman in Calgary’s club record-books to hit triple digits in total tallies.
That record previously belonged to Joe Nieuwendyk, who was 22 years and 185 days old when he reached the 100-goal plateau in 1989.
Monahan’s birth certificate was stamped 22 years and 134 days ago.
