Golden goal, meet glitter goal.
While Connor McDavid’s game-winner in the championship final at the world hockey championship did not have the same gravitas as Sidney Crosby’s overtime winner at the 2010 Olympics, it was the kind of play that Canadians have come to expect from our superstars.
The best players step up when their teams need it the most. Crosby did it in against the United States in Vancouver. John Tavares did it against Russia at the world juniors. And McDavid, who had eight assists but no goals in the lead up to the final, did it on Sunday against Finland.
