McDavid proves to be best in class at CHL awards

QUEBEC CITY -- Connor McDavid is the best player in major junior hockey.

He is also, for the second year in a row, its top student.

But if you give the No. 1 overall pick in next month's NHL draft the choice between an hour at the rink or in math class, it's not even a discussion.

"Hockey over everything," said the 18-year-old phenom, named player of the year, top scholar and top prospect at Saturday's Canadian Hockey League awards handed out at Quebec's Chateau Frontenac. "The classroom is good and it has its purpose and I certainly enjoy being there, but it's not quite like being on the ice.
