It’s been a relatively Happy New Year for the Kansas City Mavericks. Since the calendar turned over, the Mavs have racked up a 5-2 record. Currently, they sit five points back of the Central Division leading Toledo Walleye, who sit at 53 points to KC’s 47, which is good enough for third place in the Central. Despite a good stretch this month, the Kalamazoo Wings are nipping at the Mavs’ collective heels, only one point back at 46. While the Mavericks had a huge shot at climbing up the standings, they ended splitting the four games they played against the division leading Walleye at 2-2.
