The Kansas City Mavericks were due for a cool down period. After winning 12 of 15 to start the season, a run that included a win streak of seven straight games and no losses on home ice, it was bound to happen. Although the Mavs added to their total in a home-and-home series sweep against the Wichita Thunder, including a thrilling shootout victory on the road, things came to a screeching halt afterwards. KC has since dropped three in a row, and finally succumbed on home ice taking a shutout loss to the league-and-division-leading Tulsa Oilers in the most recent of those losses.
