Matt Bartkowski is arguably one of the least-talked about pieces in the battle of the blueliners, one of the most interesting battles at Calgary Flames training camp.
And, frankly, the 29-year-old Pittsburgh native is OK with that because he’s not paying attention anyway.
“I don’t hear the chatter -- I don’t listen to the talk-radio and all of that. Sorry guys,” Bartkowski said the other day with a chuckle. “Kind of intentionally.”
The 6-foot-1, 196-pounder hasn't logged 235 regular-season National Hockey League games by accident and boast a resume which, you’d think, gives him a leg-up on the other defencemen that are competing for the remaining spots left on the Flames opening-day roster.
