Fan emotions boiled over into a melee at the deciding game of the Sask. West Hockey League championship series.
Game 5 of the championship series between the Biggar Nationals and the Wilkie Outlaws was being played Tuesday in Unity because the rink in Wilkie was damaged by fire in 2015.
Nick Wourms, who was in the stands, said there were comments being thrown back and forth between the fan bases all game.
Wilkie won the game and the league title. But soon after the game ended, violence erupted in the crowd.
“One fan got pushed and one thing led to another,” Wourms said.
