TORONTO — The idea of winning the gold medal at the 2017 world junior championship, naturally, appeals greatly to Mitch Marner and Dylan Strome.
After all, the blue-chip National Hockey League prospects were part of the Canadian side that finished sixth at the 2016 tournament in Finland, a disappointing result no one involved with Hockey Canada anticipated in the days leading up to the tournament.
Marner and Strome would like to see that avenged this winter at the world junior in Toronto and Montreal. They could be excused, though, if they hope that others can get Canada back to the top of the hockey world on the junior level.
