Maple Leafs sign Holland, Corrado, avoid salary arbitration

TORONTO - The Maple Leafs have avoided at least one date with the salary arbitrator and brought back centre Peter Holland for one year.

After a difficult weekend for Holland, who cleared waivers, he agreed to a $1.3 million US deal for 2016-17.

With Holland clearing it likely would have strengthened general manager Lou Lamoriello’s case heading to a Monday hearing.

After making $775,000 last season, his third year with the club, Holland was asking $2.1 million for this year while the Leafs countered with $900,000.

The Toronto area native announced the news himself on social media, posting "Another year living my boyhood dream - Let's rock.
