TORONTO - Mike Babcock is glad to finally kick his tenure as coach of the Maple Leafs into gear.
That will begin in earnest on Wednesday night when the Maple Leafs play host to the Montreal Canadiens in their regular-season opener, and with the pre-season done, Babcock is relatively happy with where his team stands.
“I think we made some really good progress,” Babcock said after the Leafs lost 2-1 against the Detroit Red Wings in their final exhibition game.
“Don’t get me wrong. I would have liked to have got five (goals) tonight, but I’m a big believer in process and make each day matter.
