Mangiapane scores twice in New Jersey to move into a tie for NHL goal-scoring lead

Calgary Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane is off to an incredible start to the 2021–22 season.

The 25-year-old winger scored two goals in Tuesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils, catapulting him over the likes of Connor McDavid, Anze Kopitar, and Kyle Connor to move into a tie for the NHL’s goal-scoring lead.

Mangiapane, Elias Lindholm, and Alex Ovechkin are all currently tied for first place with seven goals. Lindholm scored once in Tuesday’s game to keep pace with Mangiapane.

Prior to Ovechkin’s two-goal performance on Monday, Lindholm ranked in a tie for first in the league with six goals.
