DENVER — Perhaps, the Calgary Flames asked Santa for a few fortunate bounces.
If that’s the case, the big man certainly delivered.
In their first outing after the NHL’s holiday break, the Flames had luck — all sorts of it — on their side in Tuesday’s 6-3 triumph over the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center.
Mikael Backlund potted a pair, once off Fedor Tyutin’s toe and another off the boot of Francois Beauchemin. (And yeah, Tyutin and Beauchemin both skate for the home side.)
Sam Bennett’s deflection goal also grazed Beauchemin before finding the back of the net.
