TORONTO - Hockey Canada hopes there won’t be any snags in its quest to win gold in several coming international tournaments and that starts with its new sweaters.
Unveiled at a press conference Tuesday in Toronto, the junior, women's and sledge hockey teams will be wearing Ripstop Fabric, which jersey designer Nike is confident will be lighter and less prone to tearing. For Canadian men’s sledge hockey captain Greg Westlake, that’s key in a game where sticks have teeth on the bottom and can be easily caught in the opposition’s sweater and equipment. Shoulder and labrum injuries often result.
