Leafs trade Roman Polak, Nick Spaling to Sharks

TORONTO - Another day, another deal for the Maple Leafs as the team has traded rugged, veteran defenceman Roman Polak and utility forward Nik Spaling to the San Jose Sharks.

In return, the team gets a pair of second-round picks from the Sharks, the selections in each of the 2017 and 2018 entry draft. As well, the Leafs acquired noted bad boy Raffi Torres, who will report to the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL.

Though it came a week before the NHL trade deadline, it would appear that Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello once again got some value in return for Polak, even though it will take some time.
