Leafs prospect Mitch Marner named OHL most outstanding player

LONDON -- Mitch Marner sat at the podium Tuesday at Budweiser Gardens as the man voted the best player in the Ontario Hockey League.

But Marner represented much more than being the poster boy for everything the OHL would like to see in a player.

He is also the poster boy representing why the London Knights are competing almost every year for an OHL title.

The Knights’ forward was voted the winner of the Red Tilson Trophy awarded to the OHL’s most outstanding player. It’s voted on by writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

He finished third in OHL scoring with 116 points in 57 games, the second year in succession he has surpassed the 100-point mark.
