Leafs' Phaneuf traded to Senators in 9-player mega-deal

The Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs laid down their arms in the Battle of Ontario and pulled off a blockbuster, nine-player deal on Tuesday.

Trying to find a top-four defenceman all season, Senators GM Bryan Murray finally filled the hole by acquiring Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf from Toronto in exchange for defenceman Jared Cowen, veteran winger Milan Michalek and forward Colin Greening, who has spent this season in Binghamton. They also sent back minor leaguer Tobias Lindberg.

Getting Phaneuf is key to the deal.; The Senators also acquired Matt Fratin, Casey Bailey, Ryan Rupter and defence prospect Cody Donaghey.
