Kylington ties career high for points in a season with assist on Backlund’s goal in Montreal

The 2021–22 Calgary Flames season is less than a month old, but defenceman Oliver Kylington has already tied his single-season career-high mark with his eighth point of the campaign.

Kylington picked up the secondary assist on Mikael Backlund’s opening goal early in the first period of Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.

The 24-year-old defenceman passed the puck back to a Trevor Lewis, who was covering Kylington’s spot at the point. Lewis flung a shot towards the Canadiens net that Backlund was able to deflect past goaltender Jake Allen.

Calgary and Montreal are currently tied at one late in the first period.
