Kubasa toss draws crowd at Dauphin Kings game

The inaugural Ukrainian Kubasa Toss drew rave reviews on Saturday.

The Dauphin Kings hosted the event at Credit Union Place as part of Ukrainian Festival Night.

“We had a live band playing Ukrainian music and all of the in-house music during the game was Ukrainian,” Kings assistant coach/marketing director Marc Berry said from Dauphin on Tuesday.

The crowd of about 1,300 did not actually toss any sausage. Instead, pieces of garden hose were wrapped up in a brown paper to make it look like kubasa because it is against Ukrainian culture to throw food, Berry said.
