The SAIT Trojans women's hockey team has its new head coach.
Kelsey Leifson, 31, is the team's new bench boss as of Friday, making her the sixth head coach in the program's history. She replaces Terry Larson, who hung up his whistle at the end of last season after nine seasons (2009-17) with the club.
"I feel like I know what to expect, but at the same time I have no idea. I am going to embrace that,” said Leifson, who played four years with the University of Regina Cougars, graduating in 2008. "I understand a lot of these girls played for Terry and liked Terry, and that it's not going to be an easy transition for them … But I was one of them once.
