Jones' Daily Planet 17: Crosby apparently allergic to Austria

PRAGUE, Czech Republic – Sidney Crosby apparently is allergic to Austria.

After arriving in Vienna direct from a first-round loss in the Stanley Cup playoffs, Crosby practiced with Canada but did not play in their one pre-tournament game against Austria.

Tuesday, Crosby did not play in the final round robin game of the tournament against Austria as coach Todd McLellan decided to rest him for Thursday’s crossover quarterfinal game against Belarus (10 a.m. Eastern, 8 a.m. Mountain).

Without Crosby in the pre-tournament game, Canada won 4-2. Tuesday they won 10-1.

“We wanted to use this game as a measuring stick for where we’ve come in the two weeks,” said McLellan.
