In advance of his first training camp with the Calgary Flames, Jonathan Huberdeau made a big commitment by signing an eight-year contract extension. He’s made another significant commitment, pledging his brain to medical research (to be conducted following his passing) as part of a series of pledges announced towards Project Enlist Canada.
In a media release, Huberdeau made the following statement:
As an NHL player, I’m very aware of the impact of traumatic brain injuries, concussions and the link to other mental health issues… I’m proud to support Canadian military Veterans by pledging to donate my brain to Project Enlist and support research to improve the quality of life of all military personnel who so bravely and courageously served our country.
