PITTSBURGH - The way things ended for Jonathan Bernier a night earlier, the troubled Maple Leafs goaltender had to wonder when his next shot at redemption would arrive.
With James Reimer scheduled to make his first start since his return from injury on Wednesday in Pittsburgh, and Bernier himself licking his wounds after surrendering six goals on 15 shots before the Mike Babcock hook wrapped around his neck, chances are it would be a while.
The latest spin on the Leafs goaltending carousel had other plans, however and 24 hours after being a bust, Bernier was brilliant in a 3-2 shootout win to avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Pens.
