BOSTON - Can we finally close the book on the all-star game soap opera now, you know, the one featuring John Scott?
Maybe not.
With goal scoring evaporating and the concussion issue as relevant as ever, the fact that the personable pugilist was voted into the all-star game has been treated in some circles as a hot-button topic of debate.
As much as Scott deserved to be in the game because of the framework of how players are elected to the rosters, he certainly didn’t earn it based on on-ice merit. This is a guy who has scored five goals in 285 career NHL games.
