Thousands of fans turned out at Portage and Main for the lunch-hour unveiling of the sweaters for this fall’s Heritage Classic, the outdoor NHL game between the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers.
Jets star Blake Wheeler and Oilers goalie Cam Talbot walked onto the stage wearing the specially-designed jerseys.
“They did a great job,” Wheeler said. “They did a good job of combining some of the old elements, the old Jets, with our colour scheme. They’re pretty awesome.
“To be here in the middle of summer and see the kind of support we get even now, it’s incredible.
