Less than a week after getting a new team, Calgary Flames top prospect Jakob Pelletier has a new letter on his chest. The Val-d’Or Foreurs announced Thursday that Pelletier will serve as the club’s captain for the 2020-21 season.
Pelletier’s heading into his 19-year-old season in the QMJHL and he’ll either be playing in the NHL for the Flames in 2020-21 or in the Q with the Foreurs. He’s not eligible to play in the AHL until 2021-22. He was the Flames’ first round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Pelletier previously served as an alternate captain for Moncton in 2018-19 and as team captain in 2019-20.
