Jacob Stukel's speed burns Swift Current Broncos

Give him an inch and he’ll take a couple hundred feet.

Hitmen burner Jakob Stukel used his elite-level speed to help beat the Swift Current Broncos 3-2 at the Saddledome on Saturday night.

It looked like the Broncos defenders were in the right position and had the right angle, but they didn’t have Stukel foot speed.

“I kinda saw (the defenceman) pivot and I thought that was my opportunity,” Stukel said. “I was lucky to get a step on him and take it to the net.”

The Vancouver Canucks prospect tucked in his fourth of the season to tie the game and then Russian import Andrei Grishakov scored on the following shift to give the Hitmen the win.
