PITTSBURGH — Steven Stamkos wants to play in the Eastern Conference final and still believes it's a possibility.

Until he gets medical clearance to get off of blood thinners he’s been taking since having surgery to remove a blood clot in early March, though, it’s a big unknown.

“I’m in a holding pattern,” Stamkos said following the Lightning’s game-day skate here on Monday morning. “There’s still a chance I can play in this series, there’s still a chance I might not play the rest of the playoffs. That’s honestly the truth.

“We’re doing our due diligence to make sure we are seeing the right medical personnel and getting the right opinions.
