The Calgary Flames defeated the Minnesota Wild 7–3 on Saturday night in a game that had a little bit of everything.
For Flames forward Blake Coleman, the second period of Saturday’s contest featured multiple shorthanded breakaways … on the same shift … in the final minute of play.
With Andrew Mangiapane in the penalty box serving a holding penalty, Coleman managed to find a bit of open ice behind Minnesota’s defence and sped toward Wild goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen.
Before Coleman was able to get a shot off, backchecking Wild forward Kevin Fiala managed to negate the scoring chance with a well-timed stick lift.
