Outside Boston’s TD Garden, there is a statue of Robert Gordon Orr flying through the air, a symbol of No. 4’s Stanley Cup-winning goal in 1970 that is now forged in immortality.
Much to Glenn Hall’s chagrin.
Over the course of his illustrious Hall of Fame career, Orr beat NHL goalies 296 times during both the regular season and playoffs. Yet none was bigger, more talked about, more memorable than the one in overtime past the St. Louis Blues' Hall that allowed the Boston Bruins to win the title 47 years ago.
Just ask Orr, the pride of Parry Sound, Ont.
