One sniper’s back.
Another one is gone.
Calgary Hitmen centre Adam Tambellini returned Friday night after a one-game absence and looked no worse for the wear.
The WHL’s playoff leading scorer set up a pair of goals in regulation time as the Hitmen and the Medicine Hat Tigers played a marathon in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series.
But fellow overager Connor Rankin went down late in the first period, hobbled to the bench and was not seen from again. Rankin was pulled down from behind and looked to twist his leg.
His availability moving forward into the Eastern Conference final after Friday’s 4-3 double-overtime victory is questionable.
