There’s not much Mark French really needs to say.
Heading into this weekend’s regular-season ending home-and-home against the Kootenay Ice, the stakes are as high as they could be.
Win one and the Hitmen are in the playoffs. It’s as simple as that.
“It’s Game 71,” French said Thursday afternoon after the team bus pulled into Cranbrook, B.C. “All the clichés can probably be thrown out the window. It’s about work ethic, competing and finding a way to be successful.”
The Hitmen had the chance to clinch their spot in the post-season on Wednesday, but ended up falling to the Red Deer Rebels 5-1.
