REGINA - The Calgary Hitmen put up a good fight against the Regina Pats in the opening game of their first-round WHL playoff series on Friday.
Calgary stuck with Regina deep into the third period until the Pats pulled away en route to a 5-2 win and 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Game 2 of the series goes Saturday in Regina. The series shifts to the Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Thursday.
Jake Kryski scored both goals for the Hitmen and goaltender Cody Porter made 27 saves in the loss.
