Immediately after honouring a player from their past, the Calgary Hitmen will turn their attention toward the present.
Before Calgary hosts the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday (7 p.m., Sportsnet 960 The Fan) at the Saddledome in a game with huge playoff implications, Andrew Ladd will join former teammate Ryan Getzlaf as the second inductee into the Forever a Hitmen program.
Following Ladd’s banner-raising ceremony, the Hitmen (25-30-10) will renew hostilities with the Blades (26-31-9), who beat the Red Deer Rebels 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday.
Veteran forward Jesse Shynkaruk scored both Saskatoon goals to pull the Blades one point ahead of the Hitmen in the battle for the final wild-card playoff spot in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.
