There was nothing for the Calgary Hitmen to play for Saturday night other than pride.
Friday’s win over the Kootenay Ice had clinched the Hitmen a spot in the WHL playoffs, and there was no way for the Calgary crew to move up in the standings.
Their first round opponent is and was the Regina Pats. The series starts Friday, March 24, and nothing that happened at the Saddledome on Saturday night against the Ice was going to change that.
But hey, a win’s always nice, right?
The Hitmen rounded out their regular season with a 4-1 win in front of 11,410 fans, and nobody was going to tell them that the two points didn’t matter.
