Heat Fall 2-1 to Edmonton Affiliate in Northern California Return

Brossoit stymies Heat to begin a new chapter of a storied rivalry.

On a night in which they would lose their highly-touted prospect and starting netminder, the Stockton Heat’s attempts to avenge a two-goal lead forged by their Central Valley rivals, the Bakersfield Condors, proved to be futile as the AHL affiliate of the Flames fell 2-1 Friday night.

Playing on pink ice in conjunction with the Heat’s breast-cancer campaign promotion, Stockton fought back and forth with the Oilers affiliate throughout the first period. The festivity surrounding Stockton’s homecoming was temporarily diminished in the final minutes of the period when goaltender Jon Gillies stood hunched over in his crease.
