Before Sunday, Mark Kastelic wasn’t sure if he had ever scored a game-winning goal in the Western Hockey League.
“I don’t really look at it that much, but I might,” said the 17-year-old centre, whose second-period marker helped the Calgary Hitmen edge the Saskatoon Blades 3-2 in front of 6,254 fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
For the record, Kastelic notched his only other game-winning tally earlier this season on Nov. 19 during a 4-2 Hitmen win over the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook, B.C.
“It doesn’t really matter,” Kastelic said nonchalantly following a first-star performance on Sunday.
