Here he was, a white Hockey Night in Canada towel draped around his neck just moments after doing an interview in front of a nationally televised audience on Saturday night.
The young Philadelphia Flyers defenceman had minutes earlier scored the winning goal in a 5-4 overtime victory over the host Maple Leafs, prolonging a tale even a Hollywood script writer couldn’t come up with.
“The cool thing is, they let me keep the towel,” he said, grinning from ear to ear. “I guess Hockey Night in Canada is a big deal up here, but I didn’t get to see it much growing up in Florida.
