Future uncertain for exiled NHL enforcer John Scott after backfired All-Star Game stunt sends Edmonton boy back to minor leagues

He survived Edmonton’s infamous tornado, but John Scott’s family fears the storm of controversy over the NHL All-Star Game has likely killed his hockey career.

As the NHL’s biggest enforcer sits in a Newfoundland hotel room, still spinning over a shock trade that saw him shuffled from the Arizona Coyotes to Montreal’s farm team, Scott’s family is calling the sudden swap a disaster.

“This is going to ruin his career — John feels terrible about what happened, but he didn’t even ask for this,” said Susan McCabe, Scott’s mother-in-law.

“Now he’s sitting there in a hotel room on an island in Canada.
