French group wants P.K. Subban name change

A French-language protection group is preying on Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban.

His name, that is.

The Association pour le soutien et l’usage de la langue française (ASULF) argues sportscasters shouldn't be saying or promoting Subban's name using English pronunciation, according to a statement reported by La Presse.

After all, Subban plays in the National Hockey League's only French market, they assert.

Instead, the ASULF wants broadcasters to start saying Subban's first name using French pronunciation – “Pay-Kah” instead of “Pee-Kay” -- according to a report from CJAD 800 AM.

This isn't the first time the ASULF has entered into an, uh, war of words.
