Early on in an evening that saw the Calgary Flames’ winning streak hit a Boyling point, Sam Bennett did the same.
He snapped.
Well, at the very least he tried snapping Vladislav Namestnikov in half, with what was essentially Bennett’s very first NHL fight.
Oh sure, he drew a fighting major midway through last season following a game-ending wrestling match with Marc-Edouard Vlasic in which Bennett didn’t even drop his gloves.
But this was a legit scrap, initiated by the 20-year-old Flames centre less than five minutes into Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning that saw Brian Boyle score twice.
