Glen Sather calls it “a hanging.”
Like he expects there to be a gallows out there at 6:20 p.m. when they raise his banner to the rafters in Rexall Place prior to the Edmonton Oilers game against his New York Rangers.
“All this bragging about me should come after you’re dead,” he said.
“I was stunned today with what Daryl Katz has done, the reception from the mayor and everything. In my wildest dreams I never expected to do this. I didn’t have any idea anything like this was going to happen.
“The banner hanging — and I call it the hanging — is something that I certainly didn’t even think about ever happening.
