Former Calgary Flames goaltender Eddie Lack has announced his retirement.
Lack, 32, played briefly with the Flames in 2017-18 appearing in four games. He broke into the league in 2013-14 with the Vancouver Canucks in a backup role.
In a video posted on Twitter Monday, Lack acknowledeged lingering hip issues that forced his hand in retirement.
“My hip issues have come to the point where I can live a normal life, which I’m extremely grateful for, but unfortunately it’s not good enough to play professional hockey,” Lack said in a video. “I’m content with the decision as I know I’ve done everything in my power to come back but it just wasn’t meant to be.
