SAN JOSE, Calif. — Glen Gulutzan talks frequently about staying patient when his team “takes on water” during the course of a game.
It’s a useful figure of speech for the Calgary Flames head coach, encouraging his team to persevere.
But, after the San Jose Sharks scored four straight goals in the second period of Tuesday’s clash at SAP Center, his group looked like the Titanic slowly sinking to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.
The Flames couldn’t come back from this one, dropping a 4-1 decision on the second half of a back-to-back that started with Monday’s 4-2 win at Phoenix.
