There is, don’t forget, a game tonight.
As the hockey world buzzes about Monday’s 1 p.m. MT trade deadline, the Calgary Flames are preparing for a clash with the Philadelphia Flyers at Well Fargo Center.
And preparing for life without defenceman Kris Russell, the heart-and-soul sort who was traded to the Dallas Stars, reportedly in exchange for a conditional second-round selection and a pair of youngsters — defenceman Jyrki Jokipakka and junior left-winger Brett Pollock.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the conditional pick becomes a first-rounder if the Stars advance to the Western Conference final (and Russell plays at least half of their post-season contests up to that point).
