The Calgary Flames made a minor move today, consummating a trade with the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Freddie Hamilton.
That's right. The Flames traded for Dougie Hamilton's big brother. A conditional 2016 seventh round pick goes the other way. He's been assigned straight to Stockton.
A fifth round pick of the San Jose Sharks back in 2010, Hamilton has yo-yoed between the NHL and the AHL over the past few years. He's emerged as a pretty solid AHL-level player (he generates about half a point per game), but he's failed to really get a foot-hold on an NHL roster spot.
